Climate Art Contest Submissions Due

The Harvard Center for International Development's Global Empowerment Meeting, in partnership with the Harvard Climate Coalition, is hosting an undergraduate climate art competition for students to submit their work in alignment with the theme of the conference, GEM23: "Growing in a Green World."Submissions are open to artistic interpretation, and all forms of media are encouraged. Submission types may include but are not limited to drawing, painting, photography, mixed media, digital art, video, dance, fiber arts, pottery, and poetry. In order to guarantee the possibility of in-person display at the conference, traditional paper or canvas artwork is suggested to be limited to 24x36 inches, and 3-D work is suggested to have a base less than 24 inches in diameter.Five winners will receive the prize of a $100 Visa Gift Card. Additionally, all artists will have the opportunity to showcase their work and themselves as artists in relation to climate and environment during a 90-minute session at the meeting to attendees. (Some artwork may only be able to be presented in digital format.)


Submissions should include high-quality photograph(s), videos, or another relevant digital form of the artwork as well as an artist statement of 100-500 words explaining the intention behind the piece and how it relates to the theme of climate in international development or to the theme of “Growing in a Green World.”Submissions are due via this FINAL SUBMISSION form by 11:59 pm on Monday, May 1st. Artists planning on submitting are highly encouraged to fill out the preliminary INTEREST form as soon as possible.All Harvard undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to submit!
